On Thursday, Paul Pogba was, to the surprise of many, named to the PFA Team of the Year over many âdeservingâ candidates including Chelseaâs Eden Hazard.
Despite scoring an impressive 13 goals in addition to his nine assists in Premier League play, seven of those strikes have come from the penalty spot.
Pogba has come under fire at times for his lackadaisical work-rate and now a running statistic on Sky Sports has backed that claim up.
According to the data, heâs spent 64% of the time walking â the most amongst Premier League central midfielders.
In addition, heâs spent 22% of the time jogging â the second-worst rate in the league.
One of his harshest critics has been former United midfielder Roy Keane, who vented his frustration to Sky Sports.
âThe guy is a talented boy, but weâre saying the same thing over and over again. The number of times weâve seen him in games where he is not sprinting or running back.â
âHeâs talking about body language â but throws his hands up in the air. Heâs a big problem for United.
âGraeme (Souness) spoke earlier about needing good senior players at your football club. Heâs a senior player, played in big competitions and won big trophies. I donât think he leads by example, from what I see.â
Manchester United and Pogba are three points behind Chelsea for the fourth and final Premier League place with three games to play.
