And now it’s been confirmed that the midfielder will sit out the clash at the Etihad, with Marouane Fellaini coming in.

The Portuguese tactician also makes big calls up front with Alexis Sánchez and Romelu Lukaku both dropped – Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial lead the line instead.

The Red Devils are coming off the back of two comeback wins, with their 2-1 victory over Juventus in midweek going down as one of their most famous in recent memory.

The home side meanwhile welcome back Benjamin Mendy and Sergio Agüero to the starting XI after both were rested for their 6-0 demolition of Shakhtar in the Champions League.

The rest of the side remains the same with Raheem Sterling looking to celebrate a goal in the derby after signing a new contract on Friday.
