Manchester City's new £1 billion agreement will earn them £100 million per year

Manchester City suffered a disappointing season last year as they slumped to third in the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s grip on the title let slip, and the Catalan will be hoping to guide the club to another championship again in the upcoming campaign.

However, they will likely face stiff competition from both holders Liverpool and three-in-a-row runners-up Arsenal.

This could be a crucial year for the side both on and off the pitch in what could be one of the most fiercely contested title races in quite some time.

Man City will be hoping their recent January signings, as well as new additions from this summer, will help bridge the gap to Arne Slot’s team in the coming months.

Man City’s massive Puma kit deal

One area that will help Man City massively is the financial boost they have received from their recent kit deal with German manufacturer Puma.

Puma have been the kit supplier for the Manchester outfit since 2019, and have been linked with the club for significant moments such as their 2023 treble win.

The Telegraph have claimed that the extension of this deal that has been agreed this summer will run for another 10 years.

It has been reported that the deal is worth a total of £1 billion, equating to £100 million each year.

At a time when PSR compliance has become a major factor at the top of the Premier League, this additional, legitimate revenue will help City compete financially with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

This is the first kit deal in English football to be valued at the £1 billion mark, with rivals such as Manchester United and Liverpool’s valuations not quite meeting that figure up to now.

Puma will be hoping that the English football market will grow, so that this figure could prove ultimately very worthwhile over the next decade.

Premier League rival kits deals

Liverpool agreed a new kit deal with Puma’s rivals Adidas in March, with the Guardian reporting that it is worth £60 million per year.

It is a multi-year deal, although it remains unclear for just how long the agreement will run for.

Meanwhile, local rivals Man United announced the agreement of a deal, also with Adidas, in January.

The Telegraph have reported that this deal is worth £90 million per year, and will also run for 10 years, for a total of £900 million.

Arsenal’s deal with Adidas, which runs until 2030, is understood to be worth £75 million per year, with only Man City reaching the nine-figure mark in English football.

In Spain, Real Madrid’s deal with the German kit manufacturer is reportedly worth €110 (£95) million, while Barcelona announced a deal with Nike earlier this year valued at £1.4 billion over 14 years, which is also equal to £100 million annually.

Man City’s strong Premier League results under Guardiola have propelled them to becoming one of the most valuable brands in football, which is why companies such as Puma will have pushed for such a lucrative and long-term deal.
