Paul Pogba's future at Juventus is reportedly in serious doubt with the Serie A club even considering terminating his deal altogether.

Juve invested a huge £31 million to re-sign the France midfielder from Manchester United last summer. Although there was no transfer fee involved, Pogba did put pen to paper on a contract worth more than £7m-a-year, before bonuses, over the next four seasons.

A serious knee injury suffered during pre-season has meant that Pogba is yet to make his second debut for the club that he played for between 2012 and 2016 and Juventus chiefs are said to be running out of patience with the 29-year-old.

News of another injury setback for Pogba emerged prior to Juventus' Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio on Thursday as boss Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that Pogba would be unavailable due to a flexor problem.

The 2018 World Cup winner has currently missed a total of 27 games for the Serie A side since returning and that number is set to rise with this latest blow.

Fans of the club are also upset with Pogba's lack of playing time, with many branding him selfish for initially refusing to have surgery on his injured knee in the hope of still being fit to represent France at the 2022 World Cup.

As it turned out, Pogba was eventually forced to accept defeat in his quest to be fit enough to make it to Qatar, but Juventus fans have not forgiven him for prioritising his country over his club.

With the Old Lady already having been deducted 15 points this season for 'financial irregularities' and 'false accounting' in relation to historic transfer dealings, the club can ill afford to have one of its biggest stars on the sidelines.

Per the Daily Mail, the club had already paid Pogba close to £3m by the end of 2022, despite him never actually playing a minute of competitive football for them.

According to the same report - via Gazzetta dello Sport - Juventus are rapidly running out of patience with the former Man United star.

While they would prefer to sell him to recoup some of the considerable wages they have paid out since the summer, Juve are said to be ready to allow Pogba to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if necessary.

By getting his salary off the club's books, Juventus would be in far better shape to recruit reinforcements as they prepare for an immediate future without Champions League football.

The ultimate football quiz of 2022

Pogba departed Old Trafford at the end of last season having missed 100 games due to injury in six years. It appears increasingly possible that he could end his second stint at Juventus having barely kicked a ball in Turin.
