Paul Dummett had lived the dream.

A lifelong Newcastle United fan, he has been at the club most of his life, man and boy.

After his impending departure had been confirmed, Paul Dummett taking to social media (see below) to express his feelings.

Whilst his Premier League days may be behind him, no reason why the left-footed defender can’t do a job lower down the leagues.

Indeed, now The Yorkshire Post are reporting that Paul Dummett could be set to sign for Sheffield United.

Money is tight at Bramall Lane and as they await a takeover to go through, manager Chris Wilder is attempting to prepare for the new season on a shoestring budget.

Wilder looking mainly to experience for the challenge ahead and having made five signings already, Paul Dummett could be the next, with ex-Southampton winger Stuart Armstrong also claimed to be in Sheffield United’s sights.

The Yorkshire Post add that with the financial situation at the club, Chris Wilder is said to be waiting on the funds for these two deals to be finalised.

Elsewhere today, the Sheffield Star has reported that their club sources at Sheffield United have confirmed that Newcastle United are trying to sign Will Osula. The raw 20-year-old versatile attacking player said to be valued at around the £10m mark plus Sheffield United also wanting significant add-ons based on further progress. So ironically, if Newcastle United do end up doing a deal for Will Osula, it could then trigger and finance Paul Dummett getting signed up by the Blades.
