Bayern Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick has signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

This was confirmed via Leverkusen’s official website where the 26-year-old expressed his delight to have put pen to paper on a new deal.

“I just feel good here, but above all, our team is a promise for the future,” Schick said via his side’s Twitter account.

“It’s a lot of fun with these guys and we really want to tear something up.

“Qualifying for the Champions League is a good next step. A lot is possible here, which is exactly why I extended my contract at Bayer 04.”

Die Werkself sporting director Rudi Voller was also pleased to have retained the services of one of Europe’s hottest marksmen.

“Renewing with such a player is an expression of our ambitions and a clear sign that things will continue at the top level at Bayer 04 Leverkusen even after my departure.

“That’s exactly what I promised on the last day of the Bundesliga match in the stadium.”

Schick was in fine form during the just-concluded campaign, netting an impressive 24 goals in 27 league outings – the second-most in the entire division behind only Robert Lewandowski – as Gerardo Seoane’s men finished third in the Bundesliga.

The Czech Republic international had been linked with a move away from the BayArena with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Newcastle United all thought to be interested but he has now put an end to those speculations by committing his long-term future to his current employers.

Having recently reached an agreement to sign Adam Hlozek from Sparta Prague, Leverkusen are shaping themselves up to be a formidable team in attack as they prepare to return to Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since the 2019/20 season.
