Barcelona continue to hold onto hope that Nico Williams will join this summer, despite the fact that the 22-year-old is already back in training with Athletic Club ahead of the 2024-25 season kicking off next week. They’re willing to wait for another two weeks, after which they would abandon their efforts for at least another 12 months.
While the wait goes on for Williams, Barcelona have started to consider other winger targets. One of those is Kingsley Coman, whose representatives they’ve already spoke to in regards to a possible move before the summer transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Bayern Munich are prepared to let Coman leave on loan, with an option/obligation to buy. It would be a low-cost operation for Barcelona, although their decision to not make a move until the Williams saga ends could cost them. That’s because Florian Plettenburg has reported that Paris Saint-Germain have advanced their interest in the 28-year-old, who came through their academy.
PSG have already spoken with Bayern and Coman’s representatives, so they are firmly ahead of Barcelona in the race as things stand. However, there appears to be a long way to go in this saga.
