Many expected Ousmane Dembélé to elevate his game a little after Kylian Mbappé’s departure last summer. However, the Frenchman has had a frustrating 2024-25 season.
At the start of the season, Luis Enrique was full of praise for Dembélé and confident that the French winger could help fill the gap left by Mbappé’s 44 goals from last season. Nonetheless, the results haven’t matched that optimism.
While his tally of five goals and seven assists in all competitions isn’t bad, it’s not enough given the high expectations, especially considering his limited impact in Europe. In the Champions League, Dembélé has managed just one assist.

The recent match against Bayern Munich highlighted his inconsistency. While he had a few bright moments in the first half, the French press deemed his overall performance disappointing.
His red card for a double yellow not only put the team in a tough spot but also exposed his lack of maturity at crucial moments, as reported by AS, who labeled him one of PSG’s most significant setbacks.
Despite leaving him out of the squad for the Arsenal match, Enrique didn’t hesitate to bring Dembélé back into the starting eleven. However, in the Champions League, the Spanish outlet notes that his performances have been reminiscent of the inconsistent version of himself that he showed for years at Barça.
He has only registered one assist against Atlético on matchday four, and with Mbappé absent, France expected him to step up—something that has yet to materialize.
