Liverpool will be hoping to end their Champions League group stage campaign on a positive note as they lock horns with AC Milan on Tuesday. With five wins in five matches, the Reds have already secured the top spot in Group B, which should give them some breathing space in regards to team selection. At the same time, they will be keen on maintaining their hundred percent record, which would be impressive in a group as tough as this.

Defence

With a tough December schedule coming up, Jurgen Klopp always has the option of resting a few of his star players in this inconsequential midweek affair against Milan.

He may use the opportunity to rest Andrew Robertson at left-back, allowing Kostas Tsimikas to make an appearance. The same cannot be said for Trent-Alexander Arnold, who is likely to continue on the opposite flank.

There might be a change in central defence as well, with Joel Matip making way for new signing Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman will be hoping to put in an impressive display alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s four-man backline, as they look to cover Alisson in goal.

Midfield

Klopp is expected to shuffle his pack in midfield as well. Jordan Henderson, in particular, might make way for Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain. The German would have preferred more changes, but unfortunately, both Naby Keita and Curtis Jones are struggling with injuries.

Nevertheless, it won’t be surprising to see James Milner make an appearance after half-time. The veteran midfielder could feature in the majority of the second half, at the expense of either Thiago Alcantara or Fabinho.

Attack

Offensively, Mohamed Salah may continue on the right-hand side, hoping to add some creativity and productivity to the table for Liverpool. Klopp could also continue with Diogo Jota, who is set to spearhead the attack in the continued absence of Roberto Firmino.

However, the one little change should see Takumi Minamino replace Sadio Mane on the left flank. The Japanese international will be hoping to once again make an impression and score his first Champions League goal of the season.
