FA Women’s National League Northern Premier leaders Newcastle United beat Wolves in front of over 2,600, Portsmouth went clear at the top in the South with a second successive win at Ipswich.

NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

AFC Fylde 0-6 Nottingham Forest Newcastle United 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers (Att: 2,614) Stourbridge 1-5 Halifax (Att: 162) West Bromwich Albion 2-1 Derby County

Newcastle maintained a four-point lead at the top, as over 2,500 saw them defeat Wolves aided by a Paige Bailey-Gayle debut double. Second-placed Nottingham Forest hit six at Fylde, with two from Charlotte Greengrass. Brittany Sanderson also bagged a brace as Halifax netted five at Stourbridge and West Brom won against mid-table Derby with a Mariam Mahmood decider.

Portsmouth went three points clear with the only goal of the game at Ipswich from Leeta Rutherford in the second minute, Oxford United moved up to third with victory at London Bees aided by a Jenna Legg double. Plymouth edged a seven-goal thriller in Milton Keynes where Ellie Sara hit a hat-trick and Jade Berrow netting Argyle’s other goal. Cardiff City Ladies are level on points with Billericay, who they beat 2-1 with Ellie Sargent adding to Chloe Lloyd’s opener.

Boldmere edged Sheffield FC with a last-minute penalty to take over at the summit, as Loughborough Lightning had to settle for a draw against Lincoln City, who are now eighth on goal-difference. Peterborough rose to third when scoring five at Leafield, Northampton Town hit six at Notts County

Middlesbrough’s win with a Jess Mett goal at York City sent them top, as Durham fought back from two down at the break to beat morning leaders Barnsley WFC with Abby Holmes scoring their crucial third. Hull City also went above the Tykes by winning at Norton, Leeds United are up to fifth following a 3-1 win at Chester le Street.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH EAST

AFC Wimbledon 6-0 Cambridge United (Att: 1,410) Haywards Heath Town 1-2 Actonians London Seaward 1-2 Norwich City (Att: 56)

AFC Wimbledon put six past Cambridge United to extend their advantage in first place to three points, Norwich City’s 2-1 result at London Seaward lifted them to second. Actonians are in the top half of the table after a narrow win at basement side Haywards Heath.

AFC Bournemouth and Exeter City both dropped their first points when drawing 1-1, the Grecians equalising in the second half through Jenna Markham. Swindon Town went goal crazy at Selsey, Moneyfields also won on the road, while Torquay United’s long-awaited first win came against Southampton Women, Portishead gained ground on Maidenhead after beating them, while Bridgwater and Keynsham drew their mid-table meeting.
