Outgoing Barcelona star choosing between four clubs

Barcelona are looking to finalise a number of departures before the summer transfer closes in two weeks’ time. Oriol Romeu will be the next to leave, with Inaki Pena and Hector also expected to follow him out of the exit door.

In the case of Pena, his departure has been put off due to Barcelona’s registration woes. Prior to last weekend, he was the only goalkeeper that the club had registered with La Liga, although Joan Garcia has now been signed up. And this means that he will now be allowed to move on, after which the Catalans will also be able to register Wojciech Szczesny.

Pena could leave Barcelona in the next 24-48 hours, although it has yet to be decided where he will go. Girona are the latest club to register their interest, and it means that four sides are now chasing his signature, as per Marca.

As well as Girona, another La Liga side keen on Pena is Celta Vigo. Their interest was stronger prior to bringing in Ionut Radu, although there is still a chance that they make a move to sign him. Como are said to be the favourites to land the 26-year-old, while he could also make a return to Galatasaray – where he has previously been on loan.

Pena will sign new contract before leaving Barcelona

Recently, it was revealed that Pena will leave Barcelona on loan, rather than on a permanent basis. Club officials want to remain in control of his future, which is why it has been agreed for him to sign a one-year contract extension before leaving, as this will ensure that he returns in 2026.

It remains to be seen where Pena ends up in the next couple of weeks, but wherever he goes, he will hope to play a prominent role.
