Ousmane Dembélé to be sanctioned after missing Barcelona training

RMC Sport report that Ousmane Dembélé could be subject to sanctions after failing to show up for Barcelona training this morning.
The player, whose much-publicised contract renewal stand-off with the Catalans has led the club asking him to leave, was absent as manager Xavi was to announce his squad for the match against Deportivo Alavés tonight.
The club had announced that the Frenchman was “a no-show due to a stomach upset”. However, the former Rennes man’s excuse has not been seen as credible, with the medical staff not identifying his purported issue.
Dembélé is now said to have been told that he would be sanctioned for breaking regulations which dictate that players are to present themselves at the training ground, ahead of potentially being part of an upcoming travelling squad. The case is now reportedly in the hands of the club’s legal department.
Although his agent Moussa Sissoko says that he remains open to talks with the club, it remains unlikely that Dembélé will appear again for the Blaugrana, with director Mateu Alemany stating that he is to leave “immediately” due to his apparent lack of commitment to the Barcelona project.
