West Ham could start without Said Benrahma vs Manchester United due to latest injury

The official West Ham United website has confirmed the knee injury suffered by Said Benrahma during a Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Hammers are set to take on Manchester United on Sunday, but could be without their star attacker due to the injury. The 26-year-old has impressed for the Hammers ever since his move from Brentford.

The Algerian international has already bagged 2 goals and 2 assists in his 4 Premier League games so far. But his potential absence against the Red Devils at the London Stadium comes as a boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

David Moyes, however, revealed that influential left-back Arthur Masuaku is close to making a full return from his injury. The 27-year-old Congolese international came on as a substitute in the 2-0 win against the Croatian side.

Moyes could be without influential duo

“You can see that Arthur Masuaku [a late substitute in the second half] has got a bit to go regarding getting back his sharpness, but we’re trying to bring him back and get him as ready as we can. Is he completely ready? Probably not, but he’s on the way to getting ready.”

Manchester United, on the other hand, are set to be without the attacking trio of Edinson Cavani, Amad Diallo, and Marcus Rashford due to fitness issues. Dean Henderson and Phil Jones are back in training but they may not be a shoo-in to start the game on Sunday. (h/t Manchester United website)

The Red Devils are expected by their fans to deliver a title this season. The triple addition of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo has strengthened the side to a large extent.

  • Manchester United star Marcus Rashford to feature in friendly before returning to competitive action
  • Manchester United star Andreas Pereira impressing as a defensive midfielder at Flamengo
  • Broadcast revenue helped Manchester United offset financial losses brought about by COVID-19

But it has also put Solksjaer under immense pressure to win his first piece of silverware as Man United’s manager. But right now, all they can do is focus on the task at hand against the Hammers, and take it one game at a time.
