This is not the Premier League Young Player of the Year award, so there no 25-year-olds have snuck in!

Basel

There are plenty of top European clubs who could do with a new centre-back, and Eray Cömert could catch their eye.

At around 6ft, the 22-year-old isn’t the tallest of centre-halves but his pace and positional sense more than make up for that. Basel’s attacking threat is aided by Cömert’s love for galloping out of defence with the ball, which is always fun to watch.

Bayer Leverkusen

All the attention is likely to be on Kai Havertz, but Moussa Diaby could be a determining factor in whether Leverkusen make it to the last four.

Since breaking into the first-team in January, the Frenchman has turned in six goals and seven assists. Victor Moses and Diego Godín are going to love having a direct and fast 21-year-old run at them for 90 minutes.

FC Copenhagen

Copenhagen have a belter from their own academy in the form of striker Jonas Wind.

He’d only made 14 appearances in the regular season but was given his chance in the last-16 against Istanbul Basaksehir and struck a brace. Wind will keep Harry Maguire honest when they match up on Monday night.

Another product from the sterling Atalanta youth set-up, Alessandro Bastoni has the potential to be one of the best centre-backs in Europe.

After making his first start against Sampdoria at the end of September, Antonio Conte has seemed to trust him in his backline ever since. Tall, strong and a solid reader of the game – there is no question that Bastoni has all the tools.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have a generation-defining talent on his hands in Mason Greenwood.

The 18-year-old looks capable of striking proficiently with both feet and a return of 19 goals would be sufficient for a veteran forward, never mind one who is having their breakthrough season. Who needs Jadon Sancho?

Sevilla

You know you have something about you if you’re linked with being the long-term successor to Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.

Jules Koundé has grown in confidence over the season and his defensive awareness has benefitted from his upward trajectory. However, the 21-year-old can pass a ball and carry it out of a defence similar to a certain Virgil van Dijk, and it’s mesmerising to watch.

Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar Donetsk have built themselves a reputation for low-key becoming a bit of a talent factory in recent years.

Brazilian midfielder Marcos Antônio is the next one worth keeping an eye on.

The 20-year-old is soft across the ground and more than capable of producing an impeccable pass. An aesthetically-pleasing midfielder to watch that could shine in their clash with Basel.

Wolves

It has taken some time for Pedro Neto to obtain minutes in the Premier League, but he has shown that Wolves might have another Portuguese gem on their hands.

The 20-year-old struck five goals and had a hand in five assists in his first season as Molineux and will be an appetising option for Nuno Espírito Santo off the bench in the quarter-finals.
