An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s ranks out wide with a view to next season has on Saturday been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and points towards Barca preparing to shift one headline member of their attacking ranks on, to make room for another.

Regarding the former, Raphinha is the player understood to be on the chopping block.

The Brazilian international has of course long been tipped for a Blaugrana exit, with Deco and co. now ready to pull the trigger on a sale.

Raphinha and his entourage have been informed of as much, with it having been made clear that, should the 27-year-old stay put, he will be eased into a secondary role next season.

This comes with Xavi eager to add more balance to his frontline, courtesy of the addition of a natural left winger.

With Lamine Yamal locked in on the right, and Robert Lewandowski spearheading the attack, Raphinha has been shoehorned into an unwanted role over recent months.

The plan is therefore to part with the former Leeds United man for a big fee, before making use of the funds raised to bring in Nico Williams.

Wide-man Williams is considered the ideal addition on the part of Xavi and Deco alike, boasting all of the required traits – pace, touch, finished product – of their desired left-wing profile.

The 21-year-old is for his part also keen on taking his talents to Catalunya, as a major shake-up in Barcelona’s frontline continues to inch closer to fruition.
