Omari Hutchinson takes another step towards first team bow with double for development squad | OneFootball

Chelsea made several significant moves to strengthen their development squad this summer, following a disappointing season.

Two of them got the most attention because of the transfer fees involved – the purchase of Carney Chukwuemeka and of Cesare Casadei.

But there was a third – the free transfer arrival of Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.

Unlike the other two he’s more of a wide attacker than a central midfielder. That might mean more opportunities for him this season, with the first team looking much more in need of bodies and fresh ideas in wide attacking areas than through the middle.

Hutchinson scored twice today for the Development Squad in a really impressive showing.

First team minutes are going to be exceptionally hard to come by this season – we will have no dead rubbers in the Champions League and our League Cup game is against Man City – but Hutchinson is keeping up his progress towards his bow in Graham Potter’s team.
