While the club claim indiscipline, Govea has insisted that he has been punished simply for not signing a contract extension.

“I don’t see anything against going back to Mexico, I would very much like to play again every weekend and see more of me.

“It’s not my main idea but I don’t rule out going back.

“I tried to be as professional as possible, even when they sent me to the second team I did extra work to prepare myself.

“I don’t know why the subject of indiscipline came up, because that was not the reason.

In 2015, without making his debut for Club América’s first team, he accepted the challenge of European football with FC Porto B , where he spent two years before moving to the Belgian league.

After loan spells with both Mouscron and Royal Antwerp, he signed with Zulte Waregem in 2019, where he has contributed seven goals and 10 assists in 58 career matches.
