Olivier Giroud (37) has said that Euro 2024 could be his final international tournament. France’s all-time top-scorer has previously alluded to a retirement from international football after the upcoming competition.

Giroud is France’s record-goalscorer with 57 goals for Les Bleus in 131 appearances. He is also just 16 caps short of former France captain Hugo Lloris, who is the most-capped player in the country’s history, however, there is doubt as to whether Giroud will reach that particular landmark total.

It is expected that Giroud will switch AC Milan for the MLS in the summer. According to multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has a verbal agreement to join Los Angeles FC at the end of the Serie A season. It could be a summer of great change for Giroud, whose international career could meet its end.

“It could be [my last international tournament]. Nothing is decided. As I’ve said, I’m closer to the end than the start. You have to make the most of every moment,” Giroud told Téléfoot. The 2018 World Cup winner has not won a European Championship. He will be hoping to go one better than in 2016 when Les Bleus succumbed to a defeat to Portugal in the final.
