Olivier Deman suffers broken ankle

Both Werder Bremen and Olivier Deman were dealt a devastating blow on Thursday morning, with the defender suffering a broken ankle. The Belgian will now spend several months on the sidelines after his injury was confirmed by team doctor Dr. Philip Heitmann.

“I’m really sad for Olivier. He had just started to find some real form. We will now give him all the support he needs to ensure his recovery goes as well as it can and so that he can get back to action as soon as possible,” explained head coach Horst Steffen.

The left-sided player underwent an operation on his ankle on Thursday.
