OH Leuven have announced that David Hubert has signed a 2-year-contract to be their new head coach. The former midfielder, who played for the club between 2017 and 2021, returns to the club to take over from Chris Coleman. Former Wales head coach Coleman was sacked a few weeks ago by the side, who wanted to bring in Hubert in instead.
Hubert had his first taste of being a head coach during the 2024/2025 campaign. He was brought in as a caretaker at Anderlecht after Brian Riemer was sacked, but after impressing in a handful of games he was given the job full time. However, it was clear that this was not a good fit for Hubert or Anderlecht as performances began to get worse over time. He was eventually sacked and replaced by Besnik Hasi. At OH Leuven there will certainly be less pressure than at Anderlecht, but the side have underperformed relative to the structures in place at the club. He will also be under pressure to produce better results than Coleman was able to.
