Stuttgart identified Oh Hyeon-gyu (24) as a replacement for Nick Woltemade, but the South Korean’s move to the Swabian club is off at the final hurdle. According to Felix Arnold, Bild’s VfB correspondent, Hyeon-gyu has failed a medical examination.

VfB had reached an agreement with Genk of €27m including bonuses to sign Hyeon-gyu – who had agreed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club – but it has since emerged that there was some uncertainty as to whether the deal would be made official. We now know that the player’s move to Stuttgart is off.

As further reported by Arnold, Stuttgart have no alternatives lined up and are unlikely to announce any further signings on deadline day. VfB earlier confirmed the signing of Bilal El Khannouss on loan from Leicester City for the season.
