Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the club will need to make a decision regarding Amad Diallo’s future before Christmas.

The winger was seemingly set to leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis in the summer transfer window after attracting interest from several clubs.

However, a proposed loan exit didn’t materialise as Diallo suffered a thigh injury in August.

One of the teams who were believed to be in the running for Diallo’s signature was Championship side Sheffield United.

A report from talkSPORT earlier this year revealed that the Blades were looking into the possibility of signing the 19-year-old.

Whilst this particular switch didn’t happen, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side may be tempted to revive their interest in Diallo if Solskjaer decides to offload the winger in January.

Making reference to Diallo ahead of United’s clash with Atalanta on Wednesday, Solskjaer has revealed that the club will need to make a call on whether the teenager will be provided the game-time that he needs to thrive at senior level.

As reported by “We had to make a decision before Christmas about whether he [Diallo] will play enough here or go somewhere else.”

The Verdict

For the Blades’ sake, it could be argued that they ought to consider reigniting their interest in Diallo if United are indeed open to the possibility of loaning him out in the upcoming transfer window.

The Championship outfit may potentially have to fight off interest from Feyenoord who had reached an agreement with the Red Devils over a move before Diallo suffered his injury.

Having recently returned to training, the former Atalanta man may need to seal a temporary exit from United as there is no guarantee that he will be able to overtake the likes of Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

When you consider that the Blades are currently short of options in Diallo’s position at Bramall Lane, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if they decide to try and convince the Red Devils to sanction a loan deal.

Although it may take Diallo some time to adapt to life in the Championship due to the fact that he has never played at this level before, he unquestionably possesses an abundance of talent and thus will fancy his chances of setting this division alight with his attacking displays.
