One Chelsea player has ‘officially overtaken’ Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice in one key area according to the latest stats put out this week.

The irony in this story of course is that Rice was courted by Chelsea for many recent years before he made his big move to Arsenal. Many Chelsea fans would have loved to see Rice arrive at Stamford Bridge, but what will be will be.

Chelsea signed Moises Caicedo for the same position instead, and that signing certainly didn’t disappoint the Blues fanbase. The former Brighton player had an incredible start to his career in the Premier League and Chelsea fans knew they were signing a top quality midfielder.

He started slowly and took a little while to get his feet under the table at Stamford Bridge, but he is really starting to shine in recent games for Chelsea and he is really proving his worth.

The stats don’t lie either, and Caicedo is now thriving in one key area that you want from a player who plays in defensive midfield, and that is ball recoveries.

As you can see from the post below, Caicedo is now leading Rice in this department, registering more successful ball recoveries (154) than Rice (153) this season in the Premier League.

It’s a very small win but we take any wins here. I am pretty sure that Caicedo and us Chelsea fans would love to be in the same title challenging position that Rice and Arsenal are currently in this season, but we will get there again one day very soon, and it’s just refreshing to see our expensive new midfield signing is doing well and really beginning to shine now in a Chelsea shirt.

Caicedo and Chelsea are next in action on Saturday in The FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley!
