Sevilla have announced the signing of defender Tanguy Nianzou from Bayern Munich on a five-year deal.

After making progress in negotiations over the last few days, Sevilla sporting director Monchi travelled to Munich, where he closed the last remaining loose ends of the negotiations so that the young defender could join Julen Lopetegui’s squad. The transfer is worth €16 million fixed plus €4 million in variables.

Bayern are confident that the young centre-back will be able to fulfill his potential at Sevilla and they have reserved an option to buy him back, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

In his two years with Bayern, he won two Bundesliga titles and two DFL-Supercups, and, at international level, he was part of the France squad that came third at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup. He made 22 appearances in all competitions last season for the German champions.

Nianzou is the latest French centre-half to join Sevilla, following in the footsteps of compatriots such as Julien Escudé, Sébastien Squillaci, Adil Rami, Clément Lenglet and Jules Koundé.
