Schalke have made their eleventh signing of the season with midfielder Alex Král putting pen to paper with the Royal Blues. The 24-year-old Czech international spent last season on loan at Premier League side West Ham United but struggled for regular first-team football.
Since the end of last season, Král had been heavily linked with a move to either Leipzig or Hertha Berlin. However, both teams are going away empty-handed as Schalke got the deal over the line. Due to current FIFA rules, Král’s contract at Spartak Moscow has been suspended for one year with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
S04 sports director Rouven Schröder welcomed the new addition to the team by saying: “With Alex, the overall package fits perfectly with a view to his position. Despite his height of 1.87 meters, he is very agile, has a lot of running and a good maximum speed. He acts cleverly and skilfully against the ball, closing spaces and anticipating the opponent’s actions very well. In addition, he is very experienced for his 24 years and has a positive body language.”
