Eintracht Frankfurt have announced that Robin Koch has extended his contract at the club until 2030, putting an end to rumours of a departure.
The 28-year-old’s previous contract expired in 2027, so his new deal is a three-year extension. Sky Germany reports that Koch is also now one of the highest earners at Frankfurt.
On extending his stay on the banks of the Main river, Koch said:
“I often listen to my gut feeling. And here, too, it told me relatively early on that it was only right to extend my contract. I’ve learned in a short time that everything here is very special: the team, the camaraderie, our stadium, and our fans. Therefore, I’m truly very proud and very happy to be a part of it for a longer period. With third place last season, we achieved something that was previously unique for Eintracht Frankfurt. Playing in the Champions League again next season is something special for the club, for the city, and also for me. I want us to continue our performance in the coming years and play a very strong role in all competitions. I want to help and lead the way in achieving this. Eintracht Frankfurt was exactly the right fit for me two years ago, and it remains so now. I still want to achieve a lot here.”
It seemed that the 28-year-old’s future was dependent on whether Frankfurt qualified for the Champions League at the end of this season. Koch had attracted interest from both Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen as a potential replacement for Jonathan Tah.
During his time with Frankfurt, Koch was able to play himself back into the national team and at the weekend partnered with Tah in central defence for Germany in their 2-0 loss to France. However, Koch’s error resulted in France scoring their second goal late in the second half of the third-place playoff.
