Stade de Reims’ attempt to hijack Burnley’s move for Ajax winger Mohamed Daramy (21) has proved successful. The Ligue 1 side have officially announced the signing of the Danish striker. The Clarets had initially struck a €16m agreement in principle with the Eredivie side. However, Reims have outbid Burnley and Ajax gave the green light for the Champagne side to enter into talks with Daramy. Ajax reveal that Reims’ total package for the Danish forward – including possible performance-related bonuses – is €17.5m.
The 21-year-old underwent his medical this Friday. Reims have confirmed that Daramy has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side and will wear the #9 shirt. Reims have conducted an ambitious summer transfer window so far with the signings of centre-back Joseph Okumu, central midfielder Teddy Teuma, attacking midfielder Reda Khadra, winger Keito Nakamura as well as forwards Oumar Diakité, Amine Salama and Adama Bojang. Reims kicked off their Ligue 1 season on Saturday at Marseille, losing 2-1.
