Western Sydney Wanderers have today announced the signing of French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who signs on a loan deal until the end of the Australian domestic season.

The A-League’s current third-placed outfit other former Ligue 1 regulars in former Dijon attacking midfielder Romain Amalfitano, as well as ex-Lyon defender Marcelo, who captains the side.

The 33-year-old had been lacking in game time this season – he had not made a single appearance since last year for Les Aiglons, who he joined in 2020, and was ostensibly no longer in the club’s plans.

Having first broken through at formative and hometown club Strasbourg, Schneiderlin went on to carve out a career in England which saw him move up the divisions with Southampton before a trophy-laden spell with Manchester United, notably lifting the Europa League. He has 200 Premier League appearances and is also a former French international, with 15 caps.
