Montpellier HSC have completed more transfers since the closure of the transfer window than they did during the transfer window after the arrival of Nikola Maksimovic (32) was confirmed on Thursday.
In difficulty financially, Montpellier only made one signing during the summer transfer window, with Rabby Nzingoula arriving on loan (without an option to buy) from RC Strasbourg Alsace. However, with the club struggling, Montpellier have been forced to dip into the market since the closure of the window, firstly by signing Birama Touré and by now concluding a deal for Maksimovic.
The Serbian international, a free agent since the expiry of his contract at Turkish club Hatayspor in the summer, has now joined Montpellier, who currently sit bottom of Ligue 1. The former Napoli, Torino, and Red Star Belgrade centre-back will bolster a backline that is currently decimated by injuries. The length of his contract has not been revealed.
