There is expected to be a mass exodus at Montpellier HSC this summer, following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2. One of their most bankable assets, Khalil Fayad (20), is garnering interest and is even the subject of talks, according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
Toubache-Ter understands that RC Strasbourg Alsace are in talks to sign the Moroccan. The two clubs are in talks over a deal worth between €3.5-4m. Fayad would then join the BlueCo-owned club on a long-term deal, however, the idea would not necessarily be to immediately integrate the midfielder. Should a deal be agreed, he could then be sent back out on loan to Montpellier, where he would gain further experience in Ligue 2 with his formative club.
However, Strasbourg are not the only club interested in Fayad. Stade Brestois, whose finances are tight and who are looking to make some smart low-cost transfers this summer, are also in the race.
