Allegri returns to Milan: the official statement

“Born in Livorno on 11 August 1967, Massimiliano Allegri played in Serie A for Pisa, Pescara, Cagliari, Perugia, and Napoli before beginning his coaching career in 2002. He managed Aglianese, SPAL, Grosseto, and Sassuolo before making his Serie A coaching debut with Cagliari in 2008. In 2010, he joined AC Milan, winning the Club’s 18th Scudetto in his first season, followed by the Italian Super Cup in 2011. From 2014 to 2019, and again from 2021 to 2024, he was in charge of Juventus, leading them to 5 Serie A titles, 5 Coppa Italia trophies, and 2 Italian Super Cups.

“The Club extends a warm welcome and best wishes to Massimiliano and his staff.”

Sky Sport Italia reports Allegri has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further campaign.

Allegri replaces Sergio Conceiçao, whose sacking was confirmed by Milan on Thursday evening.

Conceiçao had been in charge of the Rossoneri for just six months, replacing his compatriot Paulo Fonseca in December 2024.

Conceiçao had won the Supercoppa Italiana in January, but was eliminated from the Champions League knockout playoff and finished the Serie A season outside a European placement, losing the Coppa Italia Final against Bologna.

Allegri returns to Milan 11 years after his sacking in January 2024. The Livorno-born coach has already won one Scudetto at San Siro.

Allegri won 91 games from 178 during his first spell at Milan, drawing 49 times and losing 38 games.

He had emerged as the leading candidate to replace Antonio Conte at Napoli, but the fresh Serie A winner has decided to remain at the Stadio Maradona, announcing his decision with President Aurelio De Laurentiis last night.
