Eddie Howe’s side starting slowly… but then putting on a stunning clinical display for twenty minutes in that second half on Saturday.

OneFootball Videos

The Newcastle United fans loving it, that second half anyway!

Credit to Sheffield United though, because just like on Wednesday at Old Trafford where they led 1-0 and 2-1, the Blades were a real handful in that first half.

If only they had top class Premier League finishers, such as say, Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson

However, half a dozen or so very good chances were spurned by the visitors (with the ‘help’ of Dan Burn, who was a real rock for Newcastle on Saturday) as they scored just one.

The score only 1-1 at the break, as Alexander Isak got one big (but far from easy) chance and finished superbly.

As I said, a different story in the second half and as well as the four further goals Eddie Howe’s players scored in that 20 minute period, it could indeed have been far worse for Sheffield United ( if there is such a thing when you lose 5-1 and are relegated???) as Newcastle wasted more chances and then chose to cruise the very final stages.

A lot to talk about in this Newcastle United 5 Sheffield United 1 clash.

Interesting to see this official Match Cam footage (watch below) released by the club.

Showing behind the scenes stuff, as well as excellent match action from an alternative angle, down at pitch level.

Well worth watching the whole thing, especially the five goals AND celebrations.
