In an official statement, Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazillian attacker Savinho (20) from Troyes as their first recruit of the summer. The forward leaves the Championnat National club after never playing a senior match for them and spending several seasons out on loan. Savinho was most recently on loan at Girona.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is set to cost the Premier League winners a fee up to £33.6m. The initial fee received by the French third tier is set to be £21m. The former PSV loanee has signed a contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.
The transfer was an advantageous one for City due to the existing relationship between the two clubs. Troyes are also owned by UAE-backed City Football Group. This meant there would have been minimal issues during negotiations for Savinho.
