The German defensive rock embarks on a new chapter in England with a multi-year contract.
Official: Malick Thiaw joins Newcastle on a long-term deal
Malick Thiaw signed a long-term contract with Newcastle United on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The 24-year-old centre-back arrives from AC Milan in a transfer valued at €35 million.
Just a few hours ago, the English club officially announced the arrival of the German player, born in Düsseldorf, who had been with AC Milan since 2022. Malick Thiaw has put pen to paper on a four-year deal running until 2029, becoming Newcastle's third summer signing after Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale. The transfer fee is reported to be between €35 and €40 million, including bonuses. He will wear the number 12 shirt and settles in at St. James’ Park with the ambition of taking the next step in his career.
"I’m really excited to join this great club. I can’t wait to start training and get to know my new teammates and all the staff. The coach shared his vision and what he expects from me as a player and from the club in general, which is truly exciting. I think Newcastle speaks for itself. It’s a big club, an important club with passionate supporters, and I can’t wait to see them at St. James’ Park," said the German defender during his unveiling.
