Lazio have announced the signing of Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Arijon Ibrahimovic. The German has become the club’s first January newcomer.
The Biancocelesti have been linked with several profiles in recent weeks, but managed to pull off this operation out of the blue. The two clubs reached an agreement on Saturday so the youngster flew to Rome on Sunday evening and underwent his medicals on Monday. Lazio have now released a statement on their official website confirming the loan operation.
SS Lazio announces that it has temporarily acquired the rights to the sporting performances of the footballer Arijon Ibrahimović from FC Bayern München, with an option to buy and a counter-buy. The German, born in 2005, will wear the number 27 shirt.
While the official note didn’t reveal any figures, reports in the Italian media claimed that the Biancocelesti will have the right to purchase the player on a permanent basis for circa €10 million, while the Bavarian giants’ buy-back option is worth €25 million.
The versatile Ibrahimovic has already played in various roles thus far in his young career, even during his loan stint at Frosinone last season. As Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) explains, the 19-year-old enjoys playing as a Number 10 or 8, and can also feature on the wings.
Nevertheless, the source expects Marco Baroni to sculpt him as a box-to-box midfielder, especially after recently testing a 4-3-3 formation.
