Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas (37) has announced on Instagram that he would unsurprisingly leave PSG as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract next June. The former Real Madrid goalkeeper has been playing a mostly peripheral role in the PSG squad for three seasons now since the arrival of Italian goalie Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021. Navas only played five games this season, including two in the Coupe de France.
Last summer, PSG already planned for Navas’ departure by signing Barcelona B goalkeeper Arnau Tenas. It remains to be seen whether PSG would dip in the goalkeepers’ market depending on Tenas and Sergio Rico’s future at the club. The former Sevilla FC goalkeeper continues his rehabilitation program after his life-threatening horse-riding incident last year.
At 37, Navas has called time on his PSG career and paid tribute to the fans who made him feel at home. ‘Every second spent at the Parc des Princes has been marvelous. Thank God, I always felt its affection and cheers. It has been an honor defending this badge in this amazing stadium. I still have goals to reach, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to say goodbye to what was my home.‘
