Augsburg have confirmed that both Jan Morávek (32) and Alfreð Finnbogason (33) will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.
Attacking-midfielder Morávek joined the club in 2012 and made 132 competitive appearances for the Southern German team. Meanwhile, Icelandic forward Finnbogason joined Augsburg in 2016, played 115 competitive fixtures and scored 30 goals.
There are also changes in the club’s backroom staff. Assistant coaches Tobias Zellner and Rainer Maurer will leave the club as new head coach Enrico Maaßen brings in his own assistant in the form of Sebastian Block from Borussia Dortmund II.
The club via social media, thanking both players for their commitment to the club.
With the arrival of Maaßen, it seems that Augsburg are no longer willing to rely on older players but instead want to make room for younger prospects who can develop further whilst still contributing on the pitch.
