Stade de Reims have welcomed the arrival of John Patrick (21) from Getafe. The midfielder who was born in Madrid but has represented the Republic of Ireland becomes the newest addition to Luka Elsner’s squad.

Patrick became the youngest-ever player to represent his formative club Getafe in December 2020 when he made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Levante. However, Patrick has struggled to gain first-team minutes for the professional side following the 2020/21 campaign.

John Patrick looks to develop in France

The youngster only returned to the Getafe first team this season where he has appeared in the league and cup for the Madrid-based side. In search of development, Patrick has taken the decision to leave his hometown and try and find more consistent football in Ligue 1.

Reims are experiencing a mixed season. In the league, the club have not won since the 10th of November when they defeated struggling Le Havre AC.
