The midfielder joined the Partenopei during the summer of 2016.

Zielinski joined Napoli from Udinese, having enjoyed something of a breakout season on loan with Empoli playing under Maurizio Sarri.

It was under Sarri that Zielinski spent his first two seasons at Napoli.

The Pole came close to winning the Serie A title during the 2017-18 season, ultimately losing out to Juventus in the final weeks of the campaign.

Zielinski would subsequently play under the likes of Carlo Ancellotti, Gennaro Gattuso, And Luciano Spalletti at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

It was under the latter coach that Zielinski enjoyed his best season – both individually and for Napoli as a whole.

The Partenopei won the Serie A title during the 2022-23 season. They did so in emphatic fashion, with a double-digit advantage over their closest rivals in the table Lazio and Inter.

This was Napoli’s first Serie A title in over three decades.

And Zielinski played an important part in that league title. The Polish international was a key part of Napoli’s starting eleven under Spalletti.

Last campaign, however, was a tough one for both Napoli and Zielinski.

Despite having just won the Serie A title with the club, Spalletti left the Partenopei due to disagreements with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

This ushered in a season of chaos on the Napoli bench. All of Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, and Francesco Calzona coached the defending champions for a spell.

In the autumn, Napoli began contract talks with Zielinski.

The Pole’s deal was set to run out at the end of last month, and Napoli were hoping to tie down his future with an extension.

However, Zielinski decided not to sign a new deal with Napoli amid the chaos of what proved to be one of the worst title defenses in Serie A history.

This opened the door for Inter to negotiate with Zielinski starting from January.

And the Nerazzurri convinced the 30-year-old to try a new adventure.

Zielinski makes the switch to the reigning Italian champions, with Inter having taken Napoli’s crown during the season just gone.

Zielinski leaves Napoli having made 364 appearances for the club. He has also made a total of 93 appearances for the Polish national team.
