Real Madrid have officially confirmed that key midfielder Federico Valverde has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2029.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Fede Valverde have agreed a contract extension for the player, who remains tied to the club until 30 June 2029,” the statement from the club read.
Valverde joined Real Madrid in July 2016, aged just 18, and has grown into one of the best midfielders in La Liga and Europe.
The Uruguayan international has particularly excelled in the last couple of seasons or so, thriving in multiple roles under the tutelage of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Valverde had signed a long-term contract with Real Madrid until 2027 back in August 2021.
But with growing interest in him from Premier League clubs, Los Merengues have acted to tie him down to a longer contract until the summer of 2029.
The 25-year-old’s contract extension comes days after Real Madrid announced new deals for Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes, and Eduardo Camavinga.
Eder Militao is also expected to pen a new contract to round off the series of renewals at the Spanish capital club.
