Ernest Nuamah (19) has officially joined Olympique Lyonnais on loan from Molenbeek with an obligation to make the move permanent, the Ligue 1 side has announced.
The Belgian outfit is owned by Lyon owners Eagle Football, so Nuamah’s transfer can be seen as a way to circumvent the DNCG’s ruling on the Ligue 1 side. Olympique Lyonnais have stolen a march on the handful of European clubs such as PSG, Tottenham and AFC Ajax in the race to sign the Nordsjaelland Ghana international winger. Lyon had labelled Nuamah a priority signing to bolster their attacking options.
Nuamah will wear the #37 jersey with Les Gones. Laurent Blanc’s side were in the market for a winger following the sale of Karl Toko-Ekambi and the imminent departure of Bradley Barcola to Ligue 1 rivals PSG.
L’Equipe broke the news two weeks ago that Les Gones had been working for weeks to lure the sought-after Ghanaian prospect, who agreed to make the move to the struggling Ligue 1 side. The French publication adds that Nuamah’s purchase option is reportedly set at €23m. Nuamah had undergone his medical last week. The 19-year-old has logged 20 goals and five assists in 49 games with Superligaen side Nordsjaelland. Lyon have lost their first two Ligue 1 games, against Strasbourg (1-2) and Montpellier (1-4) and drawn away at OGC Nice (0-0). Olympique Lyonnais also announced the signing on loan of ESTAC Troyes striker Mama Baldé earlier on Wednesday.
