Stade Brestois and the Brittany city of Brest have announced that an inquiry commission, appointed by France’s administrative court, issued an “unreservedly” favorable opinion regarding the building of a new stadium – Arkea Park – for the Ligue 1 side. “The conclusions of the public inquiry mark a significant step forward towards the creation of a long-awaited and vital facility for western Brittany”, said Brest Mayor François Cuillandre.
Brest play their home games at Stade Francis-Le Blé, an old-school downtown 15,000-seater ground which fell way short of fulfilling UEFA’s requirements in terms of design, accommodation and safety. The Pirates had to play their Champions League home games in Guingamp. According to the public inquiry, Brest’s new 15,000-seater stadium is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2028.
