FC Barcelona have their eyes firmly set on going all the way and lifting the UEFA Champions League on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at 18:00 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, the venue for the finals.
Nobody at the club has hidden in recent weeks that the great objective of the 2025/26 season is to reign supreme in Europe once again, after faltering at the semi-final stage last time out.
Earlier this week, the draw for the ‘league phase’ of the 2025/26 Champions League was completed in Monaco, with Barcelona learning their first eight opponents in the competition.
The Blaugrana have been drawn against formidable opponents such as reigning European champions PSG and Club World Cup champions Chelsea, along with Newcastle United, Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge, Olympiacos, Slavia Praha, and FC Copenhagen.
Two days after learning who they will face in the new ‘league phase’ of the Champions, Barça have now found out what their path towards the knockouts will look like.
As expected, UEFA has accepted the request of the Catalan club to begin the tournament away from home, and Flick’s team will kick off their campaign at St James’ Park in Newcastle on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
In the second matchday, the Catalans will host Luis Enrique’s PSG in Barcelona on 1 October – a week after the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Barça will face two of their toughest rivals in the opening fixtures, but will then have some respite as they play against Olympiacos on 21 October at home, and then face Club Brugge away on 5 November, before visiting Stamford Bridge on 25 November.
The last three matchdays see Barça face Eintracht Frankfurt at home on 9 December, Slavia Praha on the road on 21 January, 2026 and FC Copenhagen back in Catalonia on 28 January.
Barcelona have, for now, informed UEFA that their intention is to play their ‘league phase’ home matches at the Spotify Camp Nou.
But they have secured the alternative of Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys until February in case the renovation works on the stadium and the final completion certificate are not ready in time.
