La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
The player to have made the move to Catalunya’s capital with a view to the season ahead? Victor Barberà.
The name of youngster Barberà has positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona over the course of the last 24 hours.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 20-year-old, just 12 months on from departing for Club Brugge on a permanent basis, was closing on a Blaugrana return.
Amid efforts on the part of Brugge to shed salary, Barberà was proposed to his former club, who jumped at the opportunity to bring back a player long held in high regard in Spain.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the discussions between the two clubs have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of Barca Atlètic, Barberà has penned terms with the club through the summer of 2026, with the option for a further year.
He will now link up with Albert Sánchez’s Barca Atlètic:
‘FC Barcelona and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Víctor Barberá. The Barcelona striker has signed a two-year contract, until June 30, 2026, with an optional third-year extension, and joins Barça Atlètic.’
