La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday announced a departure from the club’s defensive ranks.
The player to have moved on with a view to the 2024/25 campaign? Mikayil Faye.
The name of stopper Faye has of course positioned itself front and centre in Catalunya’s capital across much of the summer to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Senegalese, amid Barca’s ongoing search for fresh funds, had been deemed as surplus to requirements.
A whole host of clubs from across the continent, in turn, quickly expressed an interest in Faye’s signature.
And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, one such outfit have officially closed a deal for the highly-regarded 20-year-old.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, Faye has joined Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais on a permanent basis:
‘FC Barcelona and Stade Rennais F.C. have reached agreement for the transfer of the player Mikayil Faye for 10.3 million Euro. The blaugrana club has included a 25 million Euro buyback clause and a 30% sell-on fee clause in the deal for the player.’
