Yesterday, AC Ajaccio were informed of the DNCG’s decision to uphold their relegation from Ligue 2 to the Championnat National following an unsuccessful appeal. L’Équipe reveals that French football’s financial watchdog was left unconvinced by Ajaccio’s arguments, such as providing a €15m bank guarantee and €2.5m into the club’s accounts.

Alain Orsoni, former club president and the president of the holding company that owns Ajaccio, revealed on his personal Facebook account that he intended to appeal the decision at the CNOSF. As RMC Sport explains, the CNOSF can provide a judgment, but it is only advisory. If this appeal fails, then Ajaccio could take the matter to court.

US Boulogne CO have confirmed that they would be the team to replace Ajaccio in Ligue 2 if the Corsicans are unsuccessful in fighting this decision. The Championnat National side narrowly missed out on promotion when they lost the Ligue 2 promotion/relegation playoff to Clermont Foot.
