Oaktree Capital have zero plans to make any big player sales in their first summer transfer window as Inter Milan owners.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the owners want to have a squad with two starting-quality players in each position.

In the past few years, there have been a number of high profile departures from Inter.

In the summer of 2021, the Nerazzurri sold both Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku for huge transfer fees.

Then in 2022, Inter negotiated with Paris Saint-Germain for another big money sale, this time that of defender Milan Skriniar.

Skriniar ended up staying that summer. But then last summer, he left to join PSG on a free transfer.

And Skriniar was not the only big name player to leave Inter last summer.

The Nerazzurri also sold Andre Onana to Manchester United for a big fee.

This has just been the financial reality that Inter have dealt with over the last few years. And it has naturally led to some fears about how this summer will go.

Oaktree Not Planning Any Big Name Summer Sales At Inter Milan

The arrival of new owners in the form of Oaktree, who took over from Suning in May following the previous owners’ default on a loan, introduces further uncertainty.

But according to the Gazzetta, Oaktree’s plan for Inter this summer is abundantly clear.

The new owners do not want to lose any big name players.

There had been a brief but intense whirlwind of rumours linking Hakan Calhanoglu to Bayern Munich a week ago. But the Turk will remain at Inter.

And then there is still the contract situation of Denzel Dumfries.

But the Gazzetta report that all signs point towards Dumfries signing a new deal and staying.

Oaktree’s plan aligns very much with that of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

The 48-year-old wants to build and consolidate on last season’s success. He does not want to chop and change or disrupt the team.

The arrivals of Mehdi Taremi, Piotr Zielinski, and Josep Martinez will be welcome for Inzaghi.

Now more than ever, the Nerazzurri can claim to have two starting-quality players in every position on the pitch.

And then Inter and Inzaghi are still dreaming of a move for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson.

But the real priority is to not lose any important players from that season. And according to the Gazzetta, there is full commitment from Oaktree to that aim.
