It has been a long month for New York City FC. The Pigeons have played seven matches and will play the eighth this weekend. Truthfully, it has been a roller coaster, with lows like their U.S. Open Cup exit and highs like the Hudson River Derby win. With a thin roster, the team will probably look forward to ending the month and getting a little bit of a break in June. Before then, the Boys in Blue must head out on the road to face Nashville SC.
The Music City team is currently in third place in the Eastern Conference compared to NYCFC’s eighth. However, only four points separate the two teams. Plus, the Bronx side has won against those at the top of the table. But their problems on the road are never too far away. They have just one road win so far, and that came against a poor Toronto FC team. They have a couple of draws, including against the Columbus Crew. Hence, anything can happen.
What NYCFC needs to do, though, is brush themselves off from the Houston Dynamo FC loss. After two solid wins, it was an awful loss. But it is vital that they enter Nashville with the confidence to repeat their recent wins and not let the midweek loss crowd their judgment.
Although, the Boys in Blue have not won in Nashville. The teams have won their respective home games the past two seasons, and NYCFC has a 2-3-1 record against the Music City side. This will not be an easy game in any way, but a big portion of this game will be the mental aspect. Yes, the clinical finish cannot be missing in action, but the Pigeons must be 100% focused.

It will be interesting to see what Pascal Jansen does with the Starting XI. He needs to make some tweaks after the midweek display, and hopefully, Keaton Parks is healthy to play more minutes.
