Borussia Dortmund scored three goals in four minutes in Osaka before conceding two late goals in Japan in what was their final friendly in Asia before returning to Germany. An improvement on Sunday’s 4-0 defeat against BG Pathum United, Nuri Şahin appeared happy with the preparations on their pre-season tour.
“That was a very good step forward,” Şahin told Ruhr Nachrichten. “We analysed the game against Pathum and the boys accepted it. Against Osaka, it was a good reaction after the defeat. I’m extremely pleased that we are coming home with a positive result at the end of the first stage of the pre-season preparations.”
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens’ goal was sandwiched by goals from Karim Adeyemi as Şahin fielded his strongest possible lineup. But in what was a positive result, their pre-season tour in Asia was more about his players buying into his philosophy. Şahin further added that it’s important for his players to “recognise the principles, to recognise the build-up play and the game structure.”
Borussia Dortmund’s next pre-season training tour will be of Bad Ragaz, starting August 1.
