Italian goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma has saved two expected goals at Euro 2024; only Mike Maignan and Martin Dúbravka have managed more.

The numbers prove Italy captain Gigio Donnarumma is among the best goalkeepers at Euro 2024, something Azzurri already realised after watching the opening group stage games against Albania, Spain, and Croatia.

As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, Gigio avoided 2.03 expected goals in the first three matches of the tournament.

Ironically, his Milan replacement, Maignan, France’s starting goalkeeper, has managed slightly more during the tournament: 2.26.

The first goalkeeper for expected goals prevented during the Euro 2024 group stage is Slovakia’s Martin Dúbravka with over three (3.15).

Donnarumma has faced 15 shots during the tournament, made 12 saves, and conceded three goals, one per game.

Gigio has made 65 appearances with Italy’s national team, making his debut in 2016.
